Membership is a step taken by those who are excited about what God is doing at Church of the King. It is a way to express one’s commitment to the people who make up our congregation as well as to our Vision, Mission, and Values. Getting involved through membership communicates a willingness to be involved with the desire to see the church grow as we continue to connect others with God. Becoming a member at Church of the King opens up more serving opportunities and also invites input in important church decisions.
The following steps are not only great for your personal spiritual growth, but will also help you connect to the family atmosphere at Church of the King.
This informational class is offered at various times throughout the year and is a great to learn the history, purpose, beliefs, and vision of our church.
An interview with a pastor will be scheduled to discuss your application, ministry opportunities, and to answer any questions you may have about the church.
JUDGING?
Not here. Anything but. We don’t claim to be better than anyone else. If you don’t feel “good enough” or “clean enough” to come to church, come anyway! Trust us; you’ll be in good company.
PARKING?
There are two entrances to the church. You may park on Phillips Avenue and enter using the front main doors or you may enter our parking lot (access from Phillips and Bacon) and enter through the back doors.
ARRIVING?
When you arrive you will find Church of the King greeters at each entrance. They will give you a bulletin, and direct you to the foyer where you can get a free cup of coffee before the service begins. Sit where you feel comfortable. On Sunday mornings our service begins at 10:30am. We put a countdown up on the screen to help everyone prepare for the start of our time of worship.
DRESSING?
Wear whatever’s comfortable. It’s that easy. You will see people in jeans and you will see people in dress pants. We care more about you than what you wear.
PRAYER & COUNSELING?
If you have a prayer request you can email us at info@churchoftheking.net, call us at 248.548.3464, write in on your connection card when you come to visit (this option is our favorite), or you can request prayer in our Sunday morning service. Church of the King also offers pastoral counseling in three areas: pre-marital, family, and crisis. These are short term sessions and referrals will be made for long term needs.
KIDS?
Kids of all ages are welcome at Church of the King. After our corporate worship time on Sundays, kids take part in fun age-appropriate bible-centered activities led by great volunteers. If you have a student grade 7-12 they will remain in service and hear God’s Word. To learn more about out ministry to the young church check out Pursuit Student Ministries & Kidz Connect.
PARTICIPATING?
At Church of the King we encourage all-out passionate worship of God through music, teaching, reading of scripture, and other activities like giving and taking Communion. However, don’t feel obligated to participate. If you prefer to sit and take it all in, please feel free to do so and simply join in when you feel ready.
COMMITTING?
If you come once just to check us out, there’s no expectation that you’ll come every week. Once you’ve connected, our hope is that you will WANT to keep coming back again and again!
CONNECTING?
Our mission is to connect to God, to each other, and to the world. Getting connected is easy at Church of the King. The best way to connect is in person by joining us for a service, activity or small group. But don’t wait until then, get started now by visiting our get connected page to learn more!
